Project Lifesaver® was started in Jackson County by Sheriff Chuck Phillips in 2014 to help the parents of individuals with any type of mental disorder and to give caregivers of victims of Alzheimer’s a sense of security. It is a free service for the citizens of Jackson County for seniors or anyone who suffers from Alzheimer’s or related forms of Mental Dysfunction Disorders, Downs Syndrome, Autism, Developmental Disorders, or anyone that might have a tendency to wander away from home.
Project Lifesaver® is a radio transmission system designed to assist law enforcement and rescue agencies in locating lost or missing persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Autism, Dementia, or other disorders that may prohibit them from communicating personal information such as who they are and where they live. This program is designed for children and adults who have some type of health problem that might put them at risk of wandering away from home.
