Each shift also has a Lieutenant & Sergeant who supervises and oversees them. Our jail staff is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for inmates, as well as for visitors to the facility.  It is our goal to treat everyone in a respectful and professional manner.

The Jail Division of the Sheriff's Office is responsible for housing incarcerated persons who are awaiting trial or transfer to the State of Alabama's Department of Corrections, or who have been sentenced to serve time less than one year. The Jackson County Jail houses inmates arrested by some of our county’s and neighboring county's municipal police departments as well, including Scottsboro, Hollywood, Bridgeport, Section, Pisgah, Woodville, Owens Cross Roads, Gurley, New Hope and Skyline.

The Jackson County Jail can house 208 inmates, with an average number of 155 held on a daily basis. Medical needs are contracted through Southern Health Partners which outfits the jail with a nursing and doctor staff.
