09/25/2015 Joint Investigation leads to "Murder for Hire" arrest |

A month long investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Scottsboro Police Department, Dekalb County Drug Task Force and the Albertville Police Department resulted in the arrest of a Scottsboro, AL. woman on “Murder for Hire” charges.
Jewell Shrum TOLSON age 46 of Scottsboro, AL. was arrested on September 24, 2015 and charged with Criminal Solicitation to Commit Murder and three (3) counts of Distribution of Controlled Substances after TOLSON conspired with an undercover Agent to kill her ex-husband. Additionally during this investigation, TOLSON distributed controlled prescription drugs to the undercover agent. TOLSON was placed in the Jackson County Jail and is being held on $130,000 bond.
Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips said, “This is another example of law enforcement agencies joining forces to achieve a common goal”. Sheriff Phillips wishes to thank all the agencies that participated in this investigation.
Alabama Secretary of Law Enforcement Spencer Collier said, “SBI (State Bureau of Investigations) Agents worked closely with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office throughout the course of this investigation”. Collier also said, “through SBI, we will continue to partner with and provide investigative support to county and municipal law enforcement agents”. |
