On 5/7/2017 at around 11 PM, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a “High Speed” pursuit which was entering into Jackson County and which was being conducted by Trenton, GA. Police Department and Ider, AL. Police Department. JCSO Deputies responded to the area of County Road 685 in Flat Rock, AL. where the vehicle, a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, had wrecked in a wooded area and two of the three occupants fled on foot into the woods. The third occupant, Bailey Leeann TAYLOR age 21 of Fyffe, AL. was detained at the vehicle. Johnathan Ray GORE age 38 of Fyffe, AL. was located in the woods and detained.   Nickolas Donavan BROOKS, age 27 of Flat Rock, AL., who had outstanding arrest warrants for Domestic Violence 3rd degree, Escape 3rd degree and Probation Revocation escaped into the woods. Dade County, GA. Sheriff’s Office K-9 Deputies responded with a “tracking” K-9 but were unable to locate BROOKS but did locate a handgun which was believed to have been dropped by BROOKS. During a search of the vehicle, several other weapons were located including a shotgun with altered serial numbers, two “sawed off” or short barreled shotguns, a 9 mm pistol and a .22 cal pistol. Also located inside the vehicle was a large bag of suspected methamphetamine (approx 25 grams), marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a bulletproof vest with the words “F U Police” written on the front panel. During this investigation it was learned that BROOKS was making statements about “shooting” at the police during the chase and that BROOKS fled with up to three weapons, one of which was later recovered during the K-9 search. Both GORE and TAYLOR were arrested and charged with; Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Sawed Off or Short Barreled Shotgun (two counts) and Possession of Firearm with an Altered Serial Number.   Both remain in the Jackson County Jail and bond has been set at $23,100.00 for each.

BROOKS is considered a Fugitive From Justice and is believed to Armed and Dangerous.   Anyone with information as to BROOKS’ whereabouts should not approach him but should contact your local Police Department of Sheriff’s Office.
