On October 21, 2017, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sgt. John McCrary received a call of a suspicious vehicle behind the Garth Church on Alabama Hwy 65 at Jackson County Rd 10. When Sgt. McCrary arrived the vehicle sped off and a pursuit began which ended in Gurley, AL. near Capers Drive. When the vehicle stopped the driver jumped out of the vehicle carrying a backpack and a foot chase began and ended a short distance later with the subject being arrested. The Gurley Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office assisted in this pursuit and arrest of the three occupants of the vehicle. Deputies recovered the back pack which contained items used to manufacture methamphetamine along with a small amount of methamphetamine. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located additional amounts of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit was called to assist in the investigation and to process evidence. Arrested in connection with this investigation were: JAMES CAMERON JOHNSON age 24 of Paint Rock, AL. who was charged with Harassment (outstanding warrant), Fleeing to Elude, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine 1st degree (Bond $15,900); ASHLEY PRUITT age 25 of Henagar who was charged with Promoting Prison contraband 2nd degree, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Manufacturing Methamphetamine (Bond $22,800); KEVIN LEE VESS age 22 of Paint Rock, AL. who was charged with Failure to pay, Illegal Possession of Alcohol Beverage (outstanding warrants), Possession of Methamphetamine and Manufacture of Methamphetamine (Bond $15,709). All three were transported to the Jackson County Jail.
On October 22, 2017, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Travis Stephens and Hunter Franks went to a residence on Williamson Street in Paint Rock, AL. to serve an outstanding arrest warrant. While at the residence Deputy Stevens could smell a strong odor of marijuana and contacted the Jackson County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit to assist. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located in the residence. Three subjects were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail. While at the jail the male subject was searched and corrections officers located approximately 116 grams of methamphetamine, Alprazolam, Lyrica, Clonazepam and Marijuana hidden on his person. Arrested in connection with this investigation were: ZACHARY DAVID MORRIS age 45 of Woodville, AL. who was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance x3, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd degree (Bond $38,600); TERESA KAY WOODS VESS age 47 of Paint Rock, AL. who was charged Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Bond $600); MONICA NACHOLE VESS age 24 of Paint Rock, AL. who was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Bond $600). All three were transported to the Jackson County Jail.
On October 22, 2017, in connection with the above search warrant and arrests, a second search warrant was executed at ZACHARY DAVID MORRIS’ residence on Venson Street in Woodville, AL. During this search Deputies located marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia a hand gun and approximately 54 Grams of liquid morphine. Arrested in connection with this search were: TAMMI BOSLEY age 24 of Albertville, AL. who was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, Loitering in a Drug House, Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Trafficking in Morphine (Bond $26,200); RILEY WAYNE GRIFFIN age 21 of Gurley, AL. who was charged with Loitering in a Drug House, Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Trafficking in Morphine (Bond $26,200); DYLAN KENT SMITH age 20 of Huntsville, AL. who was charged with Loitering in a Drug House, Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Trafficking in Morphine (Bond $25,900); SAMUEL LANIER age 36 of New Hope, AL. who was charged with Loitering in a Drug House, Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Trafficking in Morphine ($25,900); ZACHARY DAVID MORRIS 45 of Woodville, AL. who was previously arrested at the above search warrant was also charged with Trafficking in Morphine. |
