10/30/2017 Counterfeit Operation Dismantled in Jackson County |

On Friday October 27, 2017, at around 12:45 PM, the Section, Alabama Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office were notified of an individual who attempted to “pass” a counterfeit bill at a Section business. Section Police Chief Pete Ledwell responded and conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle, detaining both occupants, who were identified as Connor GLASS age 24 of Cullman, AL. and Karla KUGLER age 19 of Cullman, AL. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded after-which a search warrant was obtained and executed on the vehicle. During the search, equipment used to make counterfeit currency, including a computer, printer, paper and ink, were located and seized along with several counterfeit bills totaling $1,800 in denominations of 20’s and 100’s, which were located concealed on the person of GLASS. Additionally, a small quantity of Methamphetamine was located. As a result of this investigation, GLASS was charged with 33 counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument, Possession of a Forgery Device, Possession of Controlled Substances (Methamphetamine), and Promoting Prison Contraband 1st degree. KUGLER was charged with 34 counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument and Possession of a Forgery Device. Bond was set at $180,000 for GLASS and $172,500 for KUGLER. Both remain in the Jackson County Jail. |
